On the contrary now begins the learning process which will help you to avoid accidents. To be out in the traffic and acquire the ability to foresee a chain of events is a continuous life-long learning process.

If you have received professional driving this will provide a good basis for avoiding accidents both where you yourself and your fellow road users are concerned.

If you, on the other hand not have put very much effort into learning, the risks increase considerably This is also true if you allow your knowledge fall into oblivion. In any case you might end up on the newspaper placards and/or become a number in the accident statistics.

What can you do to avoid becoming a number in the accident statistics?

It is difficult to give an unambiguous answer - nevertheless I can give you some advice on the way

Bus

  • Build up your own knowledge to be able to foresee other road users misjudgements and their consequences.

  • Keep yourself continuously updated about and adhere to any changes in traffic laws and regulations.

  • You must continuously improve your ability to handle the vehicle you drive so that you, in a safe way, can deal with the complicated traffic environment of today.

  • You must have empathy, especially with unprotected road users. Do not forget that not everyone out in the traffic has a driving licence.

  • You should be helpful towards lorry and bus drivers who need more space on the road than you.

  • You should build up an adequate knowledge of your own ability to safely solve risk situations which you might encounter in the traffic.

  • You should remember being out in traffic entails mutual respect, personal responsibility and good judgment.

Give Way..

What does the traffic regulation "Give Way" entail.

If you belong to the category which interprets the rule to mean "as long as I have time to stop" you run or "I have time to go first" there is a greater risk of finding yourself in difficulties. Rainy, icy and slippery conditions and last but not least gravel on asphalt does not improve the situation. Your margins will not be very wide.

If you on the other hand interpret the rule to mean that you "reduce your speed gradually" so that other road users understand your intention, your margins will increase considerably.

Surely you will feel better and your gesture to give way in good time will be appreciated.

When you continue on your way please remember that you should not constitute a hindrance or danger to other road users.
